Default Is Looking at a Blog a PPO Violation

I wrote a blog about many things, and two of those things were my ex and the ppo I have against him - a basic warning to others and to promote identifying abusers in the community. In my state, we do not have a ppo database - so unless he discloses this info to a date, she would never know, and could be in danger.

    1) Is it in violation of a PPO for my ex to view my blog numerous times (over 25) a day?

I cannot figure this out because there has been no actual "contact" and the police are torn on what to do. It is a public site, so anyone can visit it - and to be honest, I can overlook a stumble on my page once or twice - but over 25 times per day? And it's not like the content changed - so this person is obsessively viewing it over and over.

Police, and more importantly, your county prosecutor, will have a VERY hard time trying to do anything about someone viewing your publically accessible blog. Even if they can prove that his computer accessed the site, there's the issue that looking isn't the same as contacting, and, even if they can prove the viewing occurred via his computer, they'll have a much harder time proving that he was the one in front of the monitor/keyboard at the time (I know it sounds like a slam dunk, but in the legal arena, proving things that are common sense aren't actually so easy). Realistically? Don't expect any reaction from him viewing the blog unless you go back to the court to order that specific wording address accessing the blog.

Thanks - and this was also my assumption. I suppose, this day in age, things like Internet Stalking should be added to the PPO violation list. My reasons for this are because if this person was stalking me on the street, even tho I cannot see him, he still should not be monitoring me - and viewing my page as much as he is, is, to me, a form of monitoring my activities. However, as you say, proving this becomes difficult. I know what I wrote about him was unflattering, to say the least, and I will bring up the issue of him monitoring my page if he tries to sue for defamation - he has threatened more than once.

I admit that I'm rather old fashioned, but the reality is that when you post anything on the internet, you are opening up yourself to the entire world, even the people you don't want to know anything about you.

People need to understand that when you post, you are giving up your right to privacy, the same as if you had written a book and had it published.

Simply put, if you are worried about that person reading your blog, don't post publically.
