got my GC in 2006 ( from marriage) , was convicted with petty theft misdemeanor in 2008 .
i am not sure if i should apply for citizenhip in 2010 or just wait 3 years from 2008.

A petty theft conviction - so long as it is only one! - is usually not enough to sink a naturalization application.

Expect to be asked a lot of questions about it, and be prepared to provide copies of all documents related to the conviction.
