Default Will a technical error get you out of a ticket

    Wasup yall,
I got a carpool violation today a lil bit before the lane opened to all cars, and on my ticket it says age "18", but im only 17. I currently live in California, and I was wondering wether I can make a case that the officer charged me as an adult and not a minor, and therefore it is not a valid charge, since there are differences in how minors are charged and adults are charged. Can anyone give me some advice on how I could do this?

From what I understand, an officer can make minor errors when writing up a ticket.

    incorrect color
    incorrect year
    wrong hair color, eye color

So, I'm guessing incorrect age as well.

The only error you can contest is a fatal error, like writing down the wrong VC code violated.

See thats the thing if it was any other age difference it wouldnt matter, however my age difference on the ticket means he charged me as an adult and not a minor and there are different procedures and courts for the two

If you can find the relevant penal code or law to support your claim, give it a try and let us know how you do.

In the larger counties, juvenile traffic offenses are often handled in traffic court the same as adults. In some of the smaller counties they woul dhave to go through the Juvenile Probation office. You should contact the court where you are supposed to go and advise them of the problem and see what they recommend. You can NOT simply ignore it.
