Default Time to Prepare for Court

My question involves a speeding ticket from the State of: NY

I was issued a speeding ticket upstate for going 54 in a 30, which I was not(I know, they all say that). I had just come off a red light. The cop gave me a ticket but no supporting deposition, and orders to appear 12/31. I pled not guilty immediately. 2 days later I got a letter from the town, saying the 12/31 date was incorrect and should have read 12/17. I was issued the ticket on 11/28. Don't I get at least 30 days, to prepare myself and such?

I've been reading the CPL but can't seem to find a section related to that.

If you need more time to prepare, consider asking the court for a continuance.
