Default Charged off Vehicle
I have in my possesion a Vehicle purchased from one of the big 3 automakers in the US and financed by them also. Sometime during the course of life I slowly got behind in my payments and things snowballed and I eventually stopped making payments all together. The vehicle was never repossed and I still have possesion of it but dont know what to do with it it has been parked and covered for several years and not registered. Can I register it. Can I drive it. Will they eventually come and reposses this vehicle. Oh By the way it was reported on my credit report for 7 yrs as a charge off but has since dropped off my credit report.

You probably can register it; the only way to find out for sure is to try, but a lien shouldn't prevent registration. As they have not repossessed the vehicle, they probably don't plan to do so (although there remains a possibility). If you want to clear the title, you could ask the creditor what they would accept to release the lien. (Be careful, though - don't do anything that could be construed as renewing the debt, and don't give them any money except in return for a release of all claims and a clear title.)

do you mean you've had the car for 7 years and they didn't come after you?

then ther'es a statute of limitations issue, you can afterall get the car for free!
