Default Married Woman Might Be Lying About a Paternity Test
In case you missed it, this question is about laws in California

I had an affair with a married woman who then cut off contact and returned to her husband. About 4 months later I found out she was pregnant and she was pretty sure I was the father. She gave birth a few weeks ago and told me they ( the hospital ) couldn't do a paternity test then. She told me last night that she ordered a paternity test over the internet and the results came back saying her husband is the father. For all I know she never ordered a test and it's possible she never even asked for one at the hospital, I wasn't there ( she didn't want me there ).

If I am the father I would like to be involved in his life. Where can I go to get a paternity test that I know is real and hasn't been tampered with ( i.e. swabbing her other son instead of the baby so it looks like I'm not the father ). Is there some kind of payment plan? I've read that these tests cost at least $400 and that would really kill me right now. She may resist getting one done so is there a legal channel I can go through to force her to cooperate?

The only paternity test that COUNTS is the one ordered by the court handling the paternity action that you'll need to file. The court will order the mother to take the child to an independent lab, and the lab will ensure that proper procedure is followed.

Start saving NOW. If the child IS yours, you could be looking at 18 to 21 years of child support payments.
