My question involves emancipation laws for the State of: New York
I'm 17 years old, and I'm currently living with both of my parents. I attend high school, my grades are good, and I have a part time job at Wegmans. I have a liscense and my own car. My relationship with my parents isn't anywhere near bad, and I don't exactly have any horrible things going on in my life that would make me want to be emancipated. But, I've been living independently for a while. I take care of myself for the most part, from buying my own shampoo and buying and making my own dinners. I guess it's pretty safe to say I can provide for myself very well. One of my friends who is 18 was kicked out of his house, because his parents want him out on his own now. Two of my other friends agreed to get an apartment with him. One being his best friend, and the other his girlfriend, who happens to be my best friend. They asked me to be the fourth person. I'm well aware it's kind of a dumb reason to get up and leave home, but I believe we're all very capable at making a good living together, and I know I can provide for myself financially. I'm still going to graduate school and attend college, and I know I'll have a tight budget if I do this. I'm just wondering if this would get by in court, and what would happen?
