If Wife Leaves Country - Can I Remarry

I recently got married with an alien and we are going thru the process of naturalization (green card). We've been having marital problems and my wife has threatened to leave the country - if she does, would this nullify the marriage? would I stay married forever? can I ever remarry?

No. The marriage is still legal and binding.

If you no longer wish to remain married, you need to file for divorce. Once the court finalizes the divorce, you can remarry.

Yes, but what if she leaves after we file for divorce and she never signs anything since she will be out of the country.

From what I gather it can take up to 6 months for a divorce to process. What happens if she refuses to sign or does not return to the US? Is there a statue of limitations?.

Another marriage is not something Im looking for....but I just looking long term (5 yrs from now).
