Default The "You've Got to Be Kidding Me" Award Winner

    http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,...est=latestnews

First the officer telling the kid she was going to jail and then a tasering?

I have serious doubts the child should have been taken anywhere or the police should have even been involved let alone tasering the kid.

Wow. Just wow. Bloody ****ing wow. "Well, the mother said I could shoot her in the leg to drive home a message, so I shot her in the leg. I think she understands now." Is that what's next with this guy?

I have two major problems with the officer's behavior.

    1. An officer is not a parent. If you use an officer to administer punishments, can you really wonder why children fear the police?

    2. Thank God mom didn't tell him to just beat her or rape her to teach her a lesson.

Both the mother and the cop should be beaten bloody. Criminy. And Dad need to get himself to court and go after custody!

Thankfully, not all cops show such poor judgment.

Many years ago, I was out with the Monsters at the mall, and we found ourselves near a woman with a very upset toddler. The kid didn't want his Happy Meal. "NO MCDONALD'S! NO!" And he did the things that toddlers do when they're upset - he cried, he screamed, he kept knocking the offending box off the table. He was Not. Going. To. Eat. It.

His mother spotted a cop nearby, and called him over. "Timothy, if you don't eat your lunch, this office will arrest you and TAKE YOU TO JAIL!"

The cop was pretty pissed. "No, Timothy, I won't. I don't eat that crap, either." Then he told the mother to get a grip, before heading back over to finish his lunch.

I just read on MSN that the Mr Supercop got 7 days off with pay for this. How lovely. Punishment for the cop is paid time off.

As you may or may not know, I come from a long line of law enforcement officials... up to and including a couple of FBI agents.

All of them hated with a passion being used as the bad guys when parents couldn't manage their children.

On the other hand, when my kids were young, I would walk them up to any uniformed officer we happened across and they watched dad thank them for the job they were doing and shake their hand. They now know that police officers are, typically, nice people doing a tough job... and that, in times of trouble, they should run towards the officers rather than away.

think how craptastic it will be the next time the child runs away from mom at the mall and HIDES from the officers looking for her. Won't that be great?

You would not hesitate to shoot an unarmed fifteen year old. You wouldn't hesitate to shoot a hypothetical three year old with a flamethrower. You wouldn't hesitate to club a man on all fours. However, when it comes to tasing a ten year old, who is assaulting the officer; you are aghast.

I see just a little bit of hypocrisy in that.

I'm appalled, but that is consistent with my position on the use of force by the police. Why the change of heart from you?

the 15 yo we still don't know what happened

the three yo was to save others (remember Viet Nam)

clubbing the 350 lb man on all fours that was refusing to lane prone and proved why the cops want you to lay prone

and this one where the child was simply behaving badly and the mother was...well, she apparently wasn't so she calls the police to control her 10 yo.

There is a lot of difference between the other situations and this one.

We should know the 24th. from what I here.

    Three.

That had not assaulted anyone until after he was clubbed and stomped.

And the child was, by the account we have, violently assaulting the officer (kick to the groin).

There is a lot of difference between the other situations and this one

Primary difference, the girl is alive.
