Exclamation Credit Debt, Judgement, Garnished Wages, Never Served

Ok to start I was given these cards when I was younger and dumb. To me it was free money. Now my past is catching up. Needless to say I have busting my rear so I can get approved for a home loan by this spring. So with that I pulled my credit reports in late October.

I found a judgement against me though Westchester Co NY with a claim amount of $2101. I was never notified of this. I called everyone I could to find out WHAT this debt was, no one can tell me. This court date filed was 11/28/2007. Not sure how to handle this now. Would like to know what it is I am paying for before handing over a few thousand. They said I was served in NY however at the time I lived in FL.

The normal debt's that I am aware of are on record which I need to resolve.

I also recieved a forwarded statement last week which has been forwarded like 3 times to get to me that the state of florida I owe over $2,000 in back taxes on my business. They claim they never recieved my filing of a $0 income and close the business shortly after opening. How should I handle this now?

But my number one issue of the day is, my job which i love, I just started back seasonal with them and I hope to be able to work year round this time. Payroll had issues with EVERYONE's paychecks, I got mine really late and the dates are wrong on my start date (later instead of earlier). But on my check it said Garnishment (corp use) WRIT. And it takes $58.00 out. Granted I can call tomorrow and find out, but I was never informaed by my employer or any one else I would be garnished. Now I have no problem with it if it is something that is legit. However, is it right for them to do this without notifying me? All of my change of addresses have been on my credit reports so I don't know why I have not been notified.

Any input? Just trying to get back on track... Forgot to add I am in Palm Beach Co FL now dealing with stuff out of state. And no, I can not afford an attorney (2 kids)

Perhaps they got permission to use substituted service. The only way to find out how they allegedly served you is to check the court file from the lawsuit.

In terms of whether you can get out of your back tax bill by filing late or amended returns, check with an accountant or the Florida Department of Revenue. We don't have enough information to answer.

You'll need to find out from your employer if you are subject to an order of garnishment and if they'll give you a copy of the order.
