My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: New Jersey
OK, here's the particulars:
Laid off 10/24/2008, from $55k/yr job
Began receiving max benefit ($560/wk); managing to squeak by, wife still working
Received EUC Tier 1 benefits
Currently receiving EUC Tier 2 benefits; just had to "re-initiate" claim, as one year anniversary passed 10/24/2009
EUC Tier 2 due to expire 12/19/2009; EB of 20 weeks would kick in at that time
Have NOT worked AT ALL since 10/24/2008
OK, here's the questions...I don't know if I have the position yet, but a well-known technology employment agency (best known for their accounting/finance positions) called me today with a possible 3 month job. This position would begin sometime later this month, and continue until sometime in February 2010...possibly beyond (I hope!), but as of now, that's it. The pay is a little less than I was making, but take-home would still be more than UI.
Anyway, my #1, vitally important question is this: IF the job does NOT extend past the 3 months, when I "re-apply" for UI, is it going to be based on my ORIGINAL claim...or, God forbid, those 3 months? Should I continue to submit a claim each week, indicating the wages earned?
What is the best course of action? Quite frankly, if my UI drops to some crazy low number come February, it's game over time...goodbye to my house! IF, on the other hand, I can "restart" my UI right back where I am now, well, by all means I'll take the job, if offered.
Any and all help and knowledge is greatly appreciated!!!
Mike

With all the tiers and extensions, I just recommend people call the UI commission and ask them.

I'd rather get some overseas call center...when I called to get my claim reinstated, I was holding for FIFTY-SEVEN minutes...AAARGH!
