    Default Post-Conviction Relief

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Illinois

My son was convicted of a felony for impersonating a police officer. The 1st appeal was denied because lawyer didn't bring up the fact that the police took my son's car and searched it before they had a search warrant during the trial. Can we file appeals based on the lawyer imcompetence?

Normally you would raise any issue of ineffective assistance during your appeal. Your son should talk to his appellate lawyer about his options.

His Lawyer is the one handling the appeal. Should we get a different lawyer?
