Default Can a first-time domestic violence offender serve jail time?
I WAS JUST RECENTLY ARRESTED FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CHARGES, THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THAT I EVER GOT ARRESTED, COULD I BE FACING JAIL TIME? ALSO IN THE POLICE REPORT, THEY MADE THINGS SEEM MORE DRASTIC THEN WHAT REALLY HAPPENED, MY BOYFRIEND WILL NOT BE PRESENT AT COURT BECAUSE HE DOESNT WANT TO PRESS CHARGES, CAN THEY JUST MAKE A CASE BY THE POLICE REPORT, EVEN THO A LOT OF THOSE STATEMENTS WERE FALSE????????

If you think the charges are false, then please get an attorney asap and fight the charges. If your record is clean, you most probably will not get any jail time. But a conviction will always remain on your record. Maybe probation and classes and a fine. Make sure your bf avoids getting a subpeona..there are many ways but I will leave it to your imagination. If he is served with a subpeona then he will have to testify. If he doesnt appear he will get a contempt of court which is also no good.
