    Exclamation Kentucky Emancipation

My question involves emancipation laws for the State of: Kentucky.

I've looked for emancipation laws in Kentucky, and there are none. I'm 15 years old, and my mom is using marijuana. I need to leave. But it would be on bad terms and cause a huge fight in the family or with me. And she would prolly drag me back from wherever I went. Can you help me ?

Not if you are looking for emancipation. If Kentucky doesn't have any statute for emancipation, then emancipation is not an option. Additionally, few states will emancipate a 15 year old, and no state will emancipate a minor who does not have a clear history of and ability to support him/herself with no assistance.

Is there another family member who would be willing to take you in, and would your mother agree to that? Keep in mind that unless she is declared unfit by the state (and marijuana use alone is not likely to be enough for that to happen), she has to agree to any outplacement.

Exclamation Can My Aunt Take Custody of Me

I am 15 years old & live in Kentucky where there is no emancipation law, otherwise I would try for that. Here are my circumstances.

    1. I live with my mom and stepfather. I would like to live with my aunt.

    2. My mother: a stripper & marijuana user, among other things I'm sure.

    3. My real father: lives in Haiti as a missionary.

    4. My aunt: lives with her boyfriend & toddler child(my cousin). But, without a job.

    5. Her boyfriend has a steady income.

*Referring to 2 above, I do have evidence in the form of pictures of the marijuana. I also have the name/number of her work to show she is working there.

Would it be possible for my aunt to fight for custody of me ? & What are the chances she would actually obtain it ?

Your "circumstances" don't change the answer.

So what your saying is there would be no way of my aunt fighting for custody of me ? I'd have to just get her permission in moving in with her, right ?

You would need YOUR MOTHER'S permission to move in with your aunt.
