    Default Landlord's Insurance Company Filed a Lawsuit Against Tenants

    Hi ,
    I used to rent a house the land lord lived in the first floor and we used to live in the second floor, couple of months ago there was a fire accident that started in my house,the fire took place while we were out .. and now the landlords insurance company fileda lawsuit against us ... they say that the fire repot says it might be a candle that was left unattended and i was not at home when the fire took place can any one help and let know how i shud proceed.....
    i have a copy of the fire repot... i really need help

    You need legal help. Did you have tenant's insurance?

    I do not have Renter's Insurance and No Rental lease at the time of the accident.

    If all else fails, it's necessary - if you don't answer on time, you can be defaulted.

    At this time i cant afford a lawyer .....but filing an answer by myself is that advisible... can you suggest anything else....i am really lost any help would be great

    I had found an attorney he said he will charge me$300 per hour and he said the case would take more than 50 hours is this a resonable price....
