My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: Oregon.
Well this is what happened.... the police officer pulled me over and gave me a ticket because he said I failed to make a complete stop at a stop sign. I honestly cannot remember if I fully stopped or not. I was in another town about 2 hours away from home going fishing and I was trying to find this place where I was going so honestly I was more concentrated on where I was and if i was lost or not. I do know that there was another car in front of me at the stop and I did see the police officer parked on the on the side of the road I would of have no reason not to make a complete stop at the stop sign. So anyways he comes after me and pulls me over. He gets all the usual information from me and asks where I am going. I tell him I am on the to a fishing spot and just a little lost. He gives me the ticket and says sorry I gotta give you a ticket but then says I will tell you what to do so that you can maybe get the ticket excused. After he is done telling me what I can do he says ok have fun fishing go and snag some fish. I didn't think he acted in a very professional way especially after he told me to go snag some fish which is very illegal here in Oregon and you can get sent to jail for that. Well I finally get to the place where i wanted to fish. About 20 minutes after I get to the place where I was fishing the same police officer shows up and asks for my ticket... I was shocked to see him again and that he found where I was. I didn't think anything and just gave him my ticket. He goes back in the car with the ticket and then comes back a couple minutes later and says he forgot to write the fine amount on the ticket when he gave it to me. I looked at the ticket and he was right because I could see he wrote in there with a different pen. So my question is there anything I can do to get the ticket dismissed? would it be worth setting a court date for it? Also on the ticket they write the day you are supposed to pay the ticket by or go to court and get it taken care of well I have gotten tickets before and they usually give you like a month until you have to do that. Well he only gave me a week and knowing that I live two hours away. Another thing also is that when he came back and asked for my ticket so that he could write the fee amount on it. I was on private property which you have to pay to be on. I am sure he did not pay to get on the property or anything like that. The whole time I just feel like he was not very professional by the way he acted and the things he said and he seemed confused. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
