how long after i file chapter 7, can i use my 401k to get money if i need to make a mortgage payment?

no i have not filed, but i am trying to get a financial plan together for emergency money

If you get a Chapter 7 discharge, you should be free to do what you want subsequently. If you get a Chapter 13 discharge, you may need the trustee's permission during the pendency of any repayment plan.
