Careless Driving With a Single Vehicle Accident

My question involves a careless driving ticket from the State of: New york

i actually live in canada but want some advice that might help me.

heres my story:

I was driving on a gravel road through a construction zone, i stopped infront of the flag man who had a stop sign(note), he turned the sign to slow so i looked all around me and proceded, i was going about 30 km/h when i saw a puddle, and splashed through it soaking a shiny car(note) , i then exitied the construction worker zone and was still on gravel, i was going about 60km/h when i saw something and swerved it, and lost control of the car and hit a guard rail, i totalled the car and slightly injured myself, nothing serious, i am only 16 and was in a panic so i called my mom, she showed up, and we decided to get a police report, the offcer gave me a ticket for careless, because the construction workers told him i was stunting, and speeding through the construction zone, they also said i ran the flagmans stop sign. i did none of that. i think the construction workers were making up stuff because they were mad about the car. i now have to go to court to fight this careless charge, i think it is crap, because i was not driving carelessley, i was being careful...watching the road, saw something, and lost control. any one think maybe the officer was stereo typing me as a stupid young teenage driver, and didnt belive a word i said?

The problem is, when you get involved in a single vehicle accident it becomes really hard to defend against a careless driving ticket. Dare I ask, what did you see that caused you to panic and lose control?

i dont remember, it was something black, squirell, cat, dog, skunk, i dont really know i just caught it with my perifferal vision, and reacted
