    Default Lawyer is Shady

My question involves malpractice by a lawyer in the state of: Ga

I have filed a contempt of a child support case in Jan. 09 with my lawyer and paid him $2500. Here it is 9 months later and after 9 court dates that keep being continued by my ex's lawyer my lawyer is wanting me to pay another $6000 to him for work he has done on my case. But I have not seen anything and now we have a trial jury case and he wants another $2500 on top of his $6000 bill. What do I do? If I try and find another lawyer they are going to want a retainment fee and then I am in the same boat. I dont have much money to begin!

We haven't read your retainer agreement, nor have we seen any of your lawyer's invoices or heard any explanation of his billings. It's not unusual for cases that drag out to become expensive, or for a lawyer to require an additional retainer in advance of trial.

OP, Are you saying the ex is delinquent in child support payments? Were they Court ordered? If he is in contempt of a Court order, inform the Court that issued the order.
