Unhappy Taking Care of a Ticket, 16 Years Later

I would like to know if I can do anything about a ticket I got 16 years ago. I discovered this ticket while taking care of a recent ticket. I had totally forgotten about it. It was my first traffic ticket when I was 19 years old. It was for a burned out tail light. I got the light fixed, but being young and dumb, I wasn't sure what to do next, so I went on with life. So now it was re-disovered and I went to court to wipe off the ticket sure there was some statue of limitation because it was so old. I was shocked when the judge ordered me to pay the fine. Right around that time I was about to have surgery. While recovering I forgot about the ticket. Now a penalty has been added and my liecense suspeneded!!! I am going to pay the ticket (finally), but is there anyway I can fight this silly old ticket?

I can't imagine a court allowing you to reopen a default after this many years.

Just as an added FYI, and after paying the fine amount and clearing the matter with the court, you MUST also contact the DMV to get your license reinstated. Don't assume that it will be automatically done.

I assume this is in California, Right?
I am right 97% of the time... Who cares about the other 4%!
