Default Seniors on SSI Owe on Credit Cards
My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Arizona.

I am in the middle east and my parents (retired, no jobs) are asking for help.

My parents have credit cards and can not pay on them, I have started giving all I can monthly but they will not be able to pay the min payments..They will pay 25.00 each.

They have no other income.

I figure the CC companies will sue in court, should they go to court (They will lose) or just default?

Once judgment is in, what can the CC companies actually do? Can they force the sale of say, a car, the house, furniture?

Thank you for the help,

What a great site!

Jim

If they default, a default judgment will be entered against them. If they lose in court, a regular judgment will be entered against them.

The creditor has the right to pursue whatever assets they have that are not exempt from collections. As we have no idea how much money is involved, or what assets they have, we can't speculate on how aggressively a credit card company might pursue the debt.

Your parents could consult a bankruptcy lawyer.
