Question What is 'A Timely Fashion'
My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: IL
I sent a letter to a collection agency requesting: Validation of debt, an itemized breakdown, copies of assignments, copy of original agreement, and proof they are allowed to collect in the state of IL. I sent this letter withing the 30 days of their notice. I sent it certified return receipt for which they signed on Jan 22, 2008. It is now September 2009 and I receive a summons to appear in court. How much time are the collection agencies permitted to provide this to me? Doesn't it require a response in a timely fashion? What is considered a timely fashion?

You requested far more than they're obligated to provide under the FDCPA. Did you not receive anything in response to your demand?
