Default Repo of spouse's vehicle
My husband had his truck repoed a couple of weeks ago and is considering letting it go because he is so far behind in the payments and the car co. wants $3000 in 5 days and cannot pay that. He was laid off & got behind. Am I responsible for the debt of the repo if the car co. cannot sell for what is owed since I am married to my husband? His name is the on the loan, not mine. He bought the truck before we were married.

thanks-

If your name is not on the car title, and your name is not on the loan, the lender shouldn't have any recourse against you. Note, however, that if you have joint accounts with your husband (e.g., a joint checking account) the lender can go after the funds within joint accounts.
