Question Records of Testifying at a Trial

    Got a question....

I was in a friends car and we got pulled over. He was smoking pot, I didn't know it, he was holding it out the window. That and I was drunk, but we we're coming from the bar and I was not driving, so that was ok.

Anyways he got busted. Me and a few of my friends (who we're also in the care and oblivious to his actions) we're then questioned by the police as my stupid bud sat in the cruiser. They asked for our licenses, told us we weren't (and couldn't) be charged with anything. They copied the info and told us it would be used in my bud's police summary. His court case is coming up... (its just a misdemeanor possession case).

    Fast forward....

I was not charged, I did not get a summary (or anything), but will that mention of me being witness appear in my permanent record?? I'm considering pursuing a career as a police officer. I'm currently a EMT, I do not do drugs. I'll take a blood test any day, at any time, whenever to prove it.

(and yes I know we're a naive group lol, we live in the middle of a farm area, there's no [visible] drug usage here, we really didn't know what the hell he was smoking haha)

What is my outlook with this? Opinions?

There will be a public record of your serving as a witness in a case, but it's not the sort of information that's easily found or accessed, and the court records of themselves won't ordinarily give any indication of what you were called to testify about.

I guess I'm even more in the clear then. I am not getting called to the trial, I don't have to attend at all. I was merely listed as someone on scene with the person, who knew the person, and was with him at time of the incident.
