Default Credit card balance taken from tax refund
ok... I got out of the Air Force in November 1999... I had a BX credit card with AAFES. the card went into default, and got charged off as i understand it. when i filed my 2002 taxes in early 2003, the amount owed to AAFES was deducted from my tax refund. i was never advised of any legal proceedings including judgement hearings (if any were held). can they do that without a judgement ? i know they're the government, but still.....

yes, but they're reporting it incorrectly on my CR and it's pissing me off. I don't deny them the right to the money, only the methods used to collect it. can't very well take the gov't to small claims for violations of the FCRA & FDCPA now can I ?
