Arrow Should I Ask for a Continuance

My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: DC

We are required to submit any evidence that we plan to present 3 business days before our hearing. I did not receive their evidence and witness statement until today, our hearing is tomorrow. I think I need a lawyer...

My question is should I or should I not request a continuance based on that fact?

    Thank you for any advice.

You can try, but don't count on it. Why do you think you need an attorney? Are you the ex-employer or the ex-employee?

I'm the ex-employee. The hearing was today, I went ahead with it and represented myself.

I thought that I would need a lawyer because there were documents submitted by my ex-employer that I'd never seen and did not receive until the day before. Lucky for me they were not allowed into evidence. I should know the decision by Monday.

Yes, written documents are not normally allowed unless the employee has signed them, since "written documents" can't be cross-examined (for lack of a better term).

That would be quick. Good luck.
