Default Expungement of Arrest Record in California

My question involves expungements or pardons for the state of: CA
I was arrested 6 months ago for receiving stolen property which I did not know they were stolen when I received them. No charges were pressed. I wonder how long I have to wait to get it removed from my record (not show up on any background check) and how can I do it? I intend to apply for medical school next year and worried that will affect my application. Thank you.

    The charges were dismissed?

The case is still under review but my lawyer said it is unlikely that they will file it since there is no evidence suggesting that I knowingly participated in the crime (I did not know the property was stolen when I received them). I just wonder if after I can expunge an arrest after this is all over. Also how to expunge it.

    ?
I have the same issue regarding arrest... however the link that was provided as a reference here is irrelevant. It only concerns convictions. Per their own words:

"So, for the purposes of this guide, we will concern ourselves with 'convictions.'"

Having went through it all... they were true to their word. It only speaks about convictions.

Nonetheless, being arrested and not convicted is another process of purging altogether... so if anyone has more substantial information as to how this is done, please! Let it be known!!! Because for my own purposes I need to know.

    Thanks.

NOTE: In the future, please start your own thread on the issue.

The answer to how to TRY and get an arrest record purged can be found in Penal Code section 851.8 which is near the bottom of this page:

    http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/cgi-bin/di...ile=833-851.90

Your local court may have resources to help out with this.

Question Re: Expungement of Arrest Record in California

In my early 20's till early 30's. I had an extensive drug habit in which I got an expanded criminal record in Los Angeles. Note: No armed robbery, or violent crimes are in my criminal record. Only mistameanors and 2 felonys. 1 for auto theft in which it was thrown out. and 1 for cashing my sister check. In which I did all my time for all these convictions and finished probation and so forth. My last conviction was in 11/89.
    Now my Q:
How do I remove my arrest record. If there has not been any infractions or convictions in over 20 years. And what are the proceedures? Can felonys be erased after a certain amount of time. Please your knowledge and advise will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

It maybe possablie to get the arrest expunged if the charge was thrown out but if you have a conviction only that can be expunged and not the arrest itself. The arrest records is always gonna be there and even w. an expungment stuff might come up. It be a good idea to review that link and see what charges and or arrest can be expunged,u might be able to get 1 or both of those felonies reduced to misdeamanors.
