Default Workers Comp Settlement Payments and SSI

    Hi,
I was getting workers comp payments for a year and it canceled out all my SSI since it was more. but now I am getting "interim benefits" which are forwarded payements from my workers comp settlement. This is canceling out my SSI as well, but shouldn't I be allowed to keep it or spend it down on medical bills before my SSI gets sucked away? Any help with this would be much appreciated.

You will have to check the coordination rules for workers' comp and Social Security in your undisclosed state.
