Can I Sue for Defamation of Character

My question involves defamation in the state of: Missouri


i worked for a gentlemens club and someone started a rumor that i had hepatitis c, i got suspended from my job and im losing out on money. it also gave me emotional stress due to the fact that i have bills to pay and i am not allowed to work. can i sue the company for these things? and is there anything else i can get them for?

You cannot sue the company at all. If you can identify the person who started the rumor AND can prove in a court of law who it was, that the information is false, and that he either knew or should have known it was false, you can sue him.

well i know who said it but my boss is the one that fired me and believed it...but there is no possible way i can sue them?

You said you were suspended in your first post. Now you are saying fired. Which is it? There's a reason I'm asking.
