Summons for a lawsuit in a different country

Hey, i got a problem. My ex-girlfriend decided to summon me to Court on a certain date, saying they have reasonable grounds to fear that i will cause personal injury to her daughter for a threat made between certain dates, now i never made any threats to this girl...and secondly, this is in Canada.....but i live in the United States. If im being summoned in Canada, but live in the states...is there much they can do to me if i live in the states, 10 hours from them??

there is no order really...it says if i fail to appear that i can be sentenced to 12 months of good behavior, or 12 months of prison
