Marriage Certificate Expiration

Does anyone know about the marriage certificate expiration. A friend of me told that it will expire in 90 days. it means that I have to get another one if I don't register it with immigration in 90 days. He showed me his certificate which there was Issue date and expiration date. I don't know how a certificate has this date? and the record should be there for ever, even for expired ones. Thank you.

A marriage certificate, a marriage license, or are you talking about a fiance/fiancee visa?

Marriage certificates don't expire - they're the legal documentation that, hey, you're married! The only way to "expire" those is through divorce.

Marriage licenses do have a shelf life - anywhere from 30 to 180 days, depending on the locality. Those are the papers that allow you to get married, and are typically applied for very close to the planned wedding date.

If you're here on a K visa, you've got 90 days to get hitched, or get out.

I am talking of Marriage certificate. If someone doesn't file for his or her status change in the immigaration, what will be happened to that certificate. should be renewed or not? my friend was on F1 visa. Thank you for your reply.

Your marriage certificate gives you a certain amount of time to marry. If you don't marry while your marriage certificate is valid, you can get a new one. That has nothing to do with immigration - either your friend married or your friend did not.
