Landlord Only Gave 6 Day Notice

My question involves an eviction in the state of: Texas

My son, who has a 6 months pregnant girlfriend and 4 kids under 8 that live with him (and he supports) lost his job 2 weeks ago and was unable to pay his rent on the 1st of the month. His landlord gave him until Aug 7th to move out (told him verbally, in person on the 1st). Due to financial difficulties of my own I can not take them in so the landlord is literally kicking them out onto the streets. His father lives in Indiana and has a job lined up for him there, my son just needs some time to come up with the money to move his family. Does he have any type of resources to be able to stay in the house until the 31st?

He can check with his county government to see if they provide any form of emergency housing assistance. It's best to ask sooner as opposed to later, as if they do it likely goes fast.

The process of eviction is briefly described on this site, and this site describes what happens after an order of eviction is entered. The notice is followed by a legal action that formalizes the eviction. The initial "pay or quit" notice period gives the tenant the opportunity to catch up before the landlord can start an eviction lawsuit, but only a court can grant an order of eviction.
