Default Trouble Recovering Security Deposit in Illinois

I rented an apartment in an owner-occupied, two-unit building in Forest Park, IL. The landlord and I mutually agreed to terminate the lease last November, and I have written documentation of the agreement. I have so far been unable to get her to respond to any inquiries regarding my security deposit. My understanding of the law is that if the building had more than five units, she would owe me twice the amount of the security deposit plus interest. However, those laws do not apply to this situation. So, what are my rights and what can I do to recover the money?

You have the right to recover any money she owes you, and small claims court awaits.
