Default Clocked 73 in 55 MPH Area

My question involves a speeding ticket from the State of: California-Highway 299.

    Hi everyone,

I got speeding ticket for driving 55+ in an area with 55 limit. In the ticket it has been written clocked 73 MPH, speed Approx:70.
I was driving north of highway 299 and the police was clocked me from this coordinate (he parked the car here): 40°40'13.52"N 122°48'57.19"W

Some info: There was about .81 Miles of straight road from the curve (40°39'44.57"N 122°48'10.64"W) which about quarter of this the road had 2 lanes (but he probably got me in the 1 lane area). You can copy and paste the coordinates in http://maps.google.com/maps to see the area.

Today when I read the ticket it says "without admitting guilty, I promise to appear at the time and place indicate below", but I can not go to the court because it is very far from my town (more than 3 hours drive).

I am a very cautious driver and the reason I broke the speed limit was I trusted the cruise control on my car but know I learned if there is a down hill, it doesn't work and the speed increases gradually and because I used cruise control I didn't check the odometer.

This is my first ticket and I really appreciate your help if you could let me know what should I do? Is there any possibility that I can write to the court and win (in my situation) without going to court?

Thank you very much in advance,
    Sam

Here is some contact information to get you started:

You can always start with requesting a trial by written declaration and see what happens there. If you lose, you can always request a trial de novo which is a new trial before a judge or a commissioner.

What section were you charged with? if 22350 you have a slightly better chance of defending yourself than with 22349(a) ... depending on the road, 22349(b) might be countered as well.

    Dear Carl,

It was 22349(b). On the ticket there is a amount ~$220. I am afraid of making everything more complicated. Can I just pay this and go to class?

Thank you very much for your help,
    Sam

If you prefer not to fight the citation, you can pay the fine and the fees, plus the cost for the traffic school.

The TICKET the officer gave you had an amount of $220 written on it?! That is something I have not heard of for California.

You might want to wait until you receive a courtesy notice from the court. Or, give the court a call and find out what the total amount might be.
