My question involves estate proceedings in the state of: Florida
I have a distant relative from florida, who died. I contacted the lawyer who handled her estate, and he seemed busy and didn't seem to want to tell me to much about her estate, but from what he could remember, he said that it was a substansial estate and he confirmed that there were no close living relatives and no will. No children, spouse, parents, siblings or grandparents.
She would have been my grandfather's neice. Would I be a close enough relative to inherit? If so, how long do I have to claim it? I've read that the money will go to the state of Florida, if it is not claimed. Can anything be doen after that happens?
