Employer Refuses to Give Paystub

My last employer refuses to give me my last paystub. What can I do?

My pay has always been a direct deposit and we received our stubs at work on payday. Now they refuse to give me the paystub since I have been terminated.

Mississippi has the weakest wage and hour laws in the country, so I very much doubt that there is a requirement that they provide pay stubs (not all states do). However, I will confirm that (if Betty doesn't already know ) and let you know tomorrow.

Mississippi is just weak all together!
I have to have my paystubs for applying for medicaid and foodstamps for my children. Without all my paystubs I can not apply and being a single mother of 3 I have to take care of my children until I find another job which seems hopeless these days.
This is really a long story that has drawn media attention recently which is why I was terminated....lucky me!

You are correct. Per my reference Mississippi is not a state that requires employers to provide pay stubs.

Hmmm...makes me wonder why the State of Mississippi requires the residents to produce pay stubs to apply for welfare if you are employed.
The company is just being ugly to send it via mail or let me pick it up when I know they have it and said they had it, but just refuses to hand it over. They just didnt stop providing them...Thank you anyway for your help! =)

Wait a minute. Are you saying that they won't provide it AT ALL, or just that they won't hand it to you and are insisting on mailing it?

When you told the welfare agency your employer refuses to provide a paystub, what did they tell you? (And if they're willing to mail it, why not have them do so - you'll have it in a day or two.)

They are refusing to mail it when I have asked them to do so. They said they would but it has been over a week. They didnt have a problem with me getting the paystub from the previous week but since I have now talked to the media (the media came to me) about a situation that occured there during my shift and it ended up a police matter and a man getting arrested, thats when they told me I could not come back to get my last stub.
