My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: Georgia.
I am a grocery store manager for a major chain and I was terminated today for our employee purchase policy (consumption of a candy bar without paying for it). I got distracted with a customer and forgot to pay for it.
I paid for the candy bar when I realized it, but the company is sticking to the letter of the law. An employee call our Risk Mgmnt Dept and the next day I was terminated.
Here is my question: We have reinstated a employee for stealing $2000 because she returned the cash. Does this set a presedent for me to appeal my UI denial ? Or can I just fight the fact that I did pay for it and they are being petty ? or am I just screwed ?
I am a senior manager and getting rid of me will help the salary bottom line.
