My question involves adoption law for the State of: oklahoma

My ex is willing to sign over rights. i will be married in two weeks. where do i begin the process of having my husband adopt my children? is this something i can do without an attorney? my ex is in california. does that make a difference since i live in oklahoma? do i have to be married to my husband for a specified amount of time before he can adopt? do i get the forms to terminate rights from the oklahoma courts or california? what is the cost? thank you for any insight..

You initiate step-parent adoption proceedings in the state where the children are domiciled. Is that Oklahoma?

There does not appear to be any waiting period for stepparent adoption in Oklahoma, although if you want to avoid a home study (and I understand those cost about $5,000) you need to wait until you've been married for at least a year before commencing adoption proceedings. (Oklahoma Statutes, Sec. 10-7505-5.2(B)(2)).
