My wife has a title pawn against her car title. The car's engine has broken down and isn't fixable. The car could be sold as parts for maybe $300. The payoff is much more than that. Is there any way we can legally give them the car for the payoff amount.
The odds are, if you were to try to do that, they could sell the car and then pursue you for any deficiency (the amount of the debt in excess of the sale price, usually also with a credit for the cost of sale). That could leave you getting less than $300 for the car, and still owing the debt.
