Default Garnishment of Head of Household

    hello,

my employer received garnishment papers for me and i received my 1st deduction for 25%. i am single, have 2 dependents and claim head of household on my income tax. i thought missouri laws only allow a 10% deduction if the person is single and head of household.

please help, what do i do now?

Does the court that issued the garnishment order know you're a head of household?

The statute is here, Missouri Revised Statutes, Sec. 525.030(2).

    i'm guessing not.

i did not receive a copy of my garnishment and i have read that i should have received a copy and filled out and returned the part that i contest the amount being garnished. i called my employer to ask why i did not receive a copy and she said she only received the "yellow" copy and did not receive the one that should have went to me. How can i contest the amount being deducted if i never received a copy? And i think i only have 5 days to contest after receiving the notice so what now?
