    Default Settling a battery claim

I am a female college student who lives in Florida, Alachua county. On Nov. of 2005 I went out and hung out with my good male friend along with many other people. We drank a little bit and got into a argument on and I called him an assohole. He started to hit me in my head with un open fist (possibly fist too) about 20 times. He did not look or said sorry, and the funny thing was nobody stopped him just because he said he was gonna kill them if they do. As a result, I suffered from concussive syndrome, for a while. Also, my grades went down, plus many other emotional stresses came along. I currently pressed charges on him, more than likely he will be deported for felony charges and go back to his country since he is an international student (I am a citizen). I currently have about $3500 on medical bills that I need to take care of part of it because the victim's compensation says I offended him by calling him an asshole. so I am liable 25%(which is nonsense to me). My questions are,

    1. along with bills, I also see a psychiatrist for post-traumatic syndrome, insomnia, so, do I have a case against him to charge him for bills, decreased GPA, future Psy. bills, emotional stress and suffering(whole church got involved in this to convince me to drop charges), if I do, how much ?

    2. He is willing to settle with me about this since he doesn't want to be deported. If I can, for how much should I deal with him personally? or should I do it at all?

    3. if above happens, can I drop the charges? and what happens if I don't go to court?

I am very stressed from the beating and all this collection bills, gossip. Please help!!!!!!!!!

The prosecutor does not have to dismiss a felony charge or a domestic violence charge, merely because you have reached a civil settlement.
