    Absolutely not.

Paying for his lawyer can be seen as an admission of guilt.

Under what circumstances would an innocent man pay for the legal fees of another?

Outside of rampant altruism or familial tie, there isn't one.

Whom is accusing you of the crime he is being tried for.

How will that revelation play out in court? Especially when it is shown this is the ONLY time the OP has been so moved to act?

Better, in the last ten years, how often has your love of one friend encouraged you to pay their legal fees? Was it more than zero?

Again, how many times, in the last decade, have you been moved to help our your "bother" with his "quilt"? As he was accusing you of the same crime he was being tried for?

Bothers take bullets for one another, and you don’t have to be wearing a badge to do so.

I currently shelter a neighbor and friend in my home, at my cost. As they would and have done for me.

Do not avoid the question. This is not Dr. Phil... it is a legal website.

How many times, in the last decade, have you paid the legal bills for a person accusing you of a crime?
