My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: IL
My wife has been receiving unemployment from the state of Illinois since mid-2008. In October 2008 we began babysitting kids from time to time to make a few extra dollars and were hurting for income. The income was inconsistent and was shared three ways without our roommate (my cousin). She had a phone interview about the unemployment/babysitting and was then found to be ineligible for the income we received from the state. They now want nearly $10K, that we absolutely don't have, back from us. We would like to appeal this decision based on the fact that she continued to pursue full time employment throughout this entire duration of time, and she never considered the babysitting to be her 'job'. Do we have a shot at the appeal? We got about $330 per week from unemployment. The most we ever made in one week from babysitting was around $250...but again it was split up. Please help!![]()
