Default Wage Garnishment in Florida but I Live in Maryland

My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Florida. I have been living in MD for the past 4 years. I received a wage garnishment letter filed in FL (where I used to live) from my current p/t employer advising this company is takin 25% of my wages. I pulled my credit report to see what its for and I don't see the debt on there. I do see a judgement from 12/07 but i was never notified of court or anything. I'm assuming they were sending mail to my old address 2 years after I moved and the mail is only forwared for 1 year. I just got my paycheck and they indeed took 25%. I see I can file a ltter within 20 days ( I received it on the 27th). How can they do this without 1 notifying me (if they knew who my employer was they knew how to contact me) & 2, how do I stop it. 3, why are they saying they are garnishing my pay for 3 times more than the judgement is for?

Get a copy of the court file from the court that issued the judgment, and find out.

The letter you got didn't inform you of the garnishment? (Then why mention it?) If you wish to challenge the garnishment, you do so through the court that issued the garnishment order.

I don't know who "they" are, let alone why they would be trying to garnish more than the value of the judgment.
