Grandparent Custody

My son and his girlfriend have not used sound judgement and are now expecting. My son is upset and frustrated over the matter - his girlfriend took his comments to seriously about wanting a family. My wife and I have discussed petitioning the court for full custody so that he can complete his degree and she grows up. He will be 20, she 19. Do we have a chance? We strongly believe this child will not have a healthy life living with their parents. Their relationship is violent. They're too young, do not have their finances in order and are just starting their lives.

That's our thoughts as well. We do not believe there will be a struggle convincing my son to sign custody, but his girlfriend is another matter. We are not trying to deny the childs rights to its parents, we are merely trying to provide what is best. But I guess opinions vary. Visitations would be relatively open-ended.
