    Default Defamation or Public Humiliation

My question involves defamation in the state of: California

My question is about public humiliation or defamation. I work on a 10 person team. After some training our team was told to remain in class so a supervisor could talk to us. He started of the tongue lashing by refering to me by my first name and saying I was the worst person on the team. He also went on to say if it wasn't for him I wouldn't have a job. All my employee evaluations have been standard or exeeds standards and have not received any disciplinary write-ups for 10 years. I have worked there for 13 years. is this public humiliation or defamation based on the fact that it happened in front of my whole team.

What quantifiable damages did you suffer as a result of this tongue lashing?

Lose your job? Get demoted? Get kicked out of - or denied entry into - a professional organization? Have a flaming bag of poo left on your doorstep, causing actual physical damage to your house? Brick through the window with a note reading "U SUK LOL"?

    No?

Then no. You got your feelings hurt. The only action to be taken is to get over it.

I am over it. The thing is that I work for a Police Department and the person involved in this was the Captain of the Department, who not only myself but other people are having issues with. We have approximately 250 employees with the Department and it has traveled through everyone. I get kidding from a lot of my co-workers saying why should we listen to you your the worse one. I was going to promote but I assume this will hurt my chances since the Captain signs off on all promotions.

if you belong to a union, this would be something the union would address. If you do not belong to a union, you now understand one of the benefits of a union as there is no recourse for you. A person has a right to state opinion and that is exactly what it read like to me.

You were humiliated, yes, as we all have to be by work place tyrants at times.

The underlying question IS, does it rise to the level of a Cause of Action? No, it does not.

Keep an eye on the chump though.
