Post What Are My Legal Rights when a Storm Drain is Moved on My Property

I live in Pittsburgh, PA. Currently, the borought has moved a storm drain in my property. They have done this once before but tried to due a quick fix. The job has taken longer than expected and cost more as well. A descent part of my back yard sunk due to the old drain pipe. The fix is almost complete but now due to the cost of the job they are saying they cant give me back the yard I lost. I have only got maybe a fifth of what I lost. I have three small children and this is where they play. What are my legal rights to have my yard repaired to what it was ?

    Thank you.

You hire an attorney to negotiate a settlement.

Do I need to do this even if the job is complete ? Is there away the township can get out of fixing my yard back to what it was due to the fact this is an easement throught my property ?

Call your local elected officials and raise some cain. Avoid calling the office of anyone who is not elected.

Don't waste time with the public works department. They messed up and want you to take the hit for it and are counting on the fact. Don't roll over.

If that doesn't work call your local TV station and get them to cover a story where the borough has created a situation dangerous to children.

I guess you could get several estimates to return the property substantially to its pre-construction condition, then send a demand letter to the City. If they refuse, you could file a lawsuit.
