Paid Civil Demand 2months Before.havent Heard Anything Till Now

Hi All,

I paid the civil demand 2months before and got a letter that they have received it.Its been 2 months now and nothing else from the store. Just wondering if any one has got a court date or something after paying the civil demand? Still am not out of it and keep thinking if anything will happen

No police was involved when this incident happened..

probably u got lucky and werent charged....

do a background check on urself at the local police station and keep checking with the court to see if there are any charges on u for sometime...

i think the police have about a year to file charges....if u are ok by then, u are out of the mess....i know it sucks, but i guess this is the only way to keep a track of things

I'm kind of in the same boat.
They have a YEAR to file charges..?

I'm actually leaving the state for school, what happens then?

The store people did not tell me anything like i will have to go to court or I will get something in the mail..they just asked me to pay the civil demand..thats it..When i callled and asked the loss prevention dept they said they received the money and the case is closed...thats it..

Oh I see. Maybe you're in the clear then..
What do you think I should do?
'Cause they definitely said I need to go to court, but I'll be out of the state for college in the next 2 months.
