    Arrow Affidavit of Support

In reguards to the Affadavit of support for spouse. I am just sending in the I-130 and starting the process. Is it going to cause delay for my case if I return to my husbands country to wait the time there and work there? Or is it important that I stay and work in the United States? I just can't imagine being newlywed and unable to live the first 3-6 months without my Husband. It's not natural. I am not sure with the affadavit of support and such. I am using my parents household income and residense which is sufficient for maintaining him 100% above the poverty line as required.

I have heard mixed responses from the Embassy in his country and the USCIS information hotline, so a little confused. Any info? Thanks

How can you commit your parent's income and residence to the support of your spouse? They're not yours.

    Talking Re: Affidavit of Support

Information to anyone in my situation.

YES, yes I can. I have had it confirmed by several workers in the National Visa Center and the U.S.C.I.S. I could not make a dime and place my parents on the joint sponsorship for affadavit of support to my spouse and it will cause no delay or dismissal of my case. If the household is making 125% above the poverty line with the amount of people living in it, that is all that is important. I can go and work in the Dominican Republic and make pesos that will NOT contribute to my affadavit of support, but all I have to do is sign the document and fill it out.

So maybe you should check things before you reply, especially so rudely!!!!!!!! Mrknowitall!

That's correct - if you can't afford to sponsor somebody, you can get a co-sponsor or alternate sponsor. You'll find that information in any number of threads in this forum. But as the question above correctly suggests, you can't commit somebody else's resources to your sponsorship of somebody - they have to agree to be sponsor or co-sponsor.

Had you answered the question, that your parents were willing to help, you would have received that explanation.
