My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: CA

Thanks in advance for your help.

I live in the San Francisco area and was laid off in mid January. I scrambled to find work and was blessed to get a 2 month temp contract job in LA.

My plan was to stay with friends in LA for the two months and work while continuing to find full time work in SF; with the hope that after the contract work was over I would land back in SF with a full time job.

Needless to say things did not go as planned. I wore out my welcome and could no longer stay with friends. Ended up living in hotels which became unaffordable. Consequently, I voluntarily quit just two weeks shy of the end of the two month contract.

This past week I explained my situation to EDD on a phone interview. Two days later I received notice that I am ineligible because I quit with no good cause.

I'm going to appeal because I feel that I am being punished for taking the initiative to take a temp job close to 400 miles away so that I would not have to rely on unemployment benefits. Things unfortunately went awry and I had to come back to SF.

So my question is, shouldn't I still be eligible for unemployment benefits starting on the date that the temp job would have ended anyway had I not quit?
